The County Of Gloucestershire
About Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire's Cotswolds and Forest of Dean is the English countryside of the imagination. Dotted amongst gently undulating hills, meandering rivers and ancient woodland are some of the most picturesque towns and villages in the country. Built from Cotswold limestone they are famous for their honey coloured cottages and churches.

England's largest ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' is home to some iconic houses and gardens to explore. Lovers of arts and crafts will find many independent galleries and shops to browse the wares of local artisans, and walkers will be in their element in spectacular countryside with plenty of rustic pubs to stumble across.

The Forest of Dean's unspoilt views and tree lined pathways make it great for exploring by bike or on foot. Great attractions from steam trains rides to wildlife reserves will keep everyone entertained and if you're feeling adventurous try kayaking down the River Wye or zip-wiring through the canopy overhead!

Cheltenham town with its regency architecture and the City of Gloucester with its spectacular Cathedral and historic docklands make great bases from which to explore.
